The visual identity and decoration project realized by Evosign for Dumitru Tautan High School, was a challenge for the soul, in a difficult period for the society as a whole and for education in particular.

We believe that education and teaching have been and will be strategic components for the future of Romanian society. We are proud of this project because we feel that we have put our shoulder to the realization of a carefully studied environment for the development of the learning act in one of the most modern schools in Romania: Dumitru Tautan Theoretical High School, Floresti – Cetatea Fetei.

The story of the school is told through design.

I went on the road motivated by the significance and importance of the project for the children who study at this school and for the whole community. We imagine the amazement and joy in their eyes when they return to school after the isolation period at the beginning of the year. Benefiting from the full support of the Floresti City Hall staff and the principals of the school management, for which we thank them, we found together the answer to the question: why a project of visual identity and decoration of this school? Benefiting from a modern architecture, being already arranged, the school lacked elements that would make it a pleasant and creative learning environment, which would give it its own personality. We have identified the values ​​of the institution that will be communicated in the relationship with students and the community to discover that source of energy that will constantly motivate them to evolve.

Starting from the geographical positioning of the school, THE FORTRESS OF THE GIRL, we chose the FORTRESS as a source of inspiration in expressing the visual identity – stylized, in a modern note, seen from the perspective of the future and the symbolism it has in Floresti. I then integrated the characteristics of the character DUMITRU TAUTAN, who found himself in the history of the place as a war hero but also a visionary pedagogue.

Thus I wrote the story of the school, with the force that wants to be represented by such an institution, in the middle of the new generations that will represent the “Future of the Citadel”, the future of the Floresti community.

How did I think of the concept of visual identity and decoration?

A starting point in establishing the branding strategy was the answer to the question “What makes it unique?”. It is the first school newly built from scratch in Romania in the last 30 years.

Starting from the approach of the modern fortress, we opted for a linear design, easily differentiated on each level, playful, dynamic, with contemporary thematic elements for each educational cycle, which thus animates the space and stimulates children’s creativity, inserting inspirational messages to motivate.

The decorative support of the walls consisted in the alternation of washable geometric volumes in the approached chromatics, in addition to which we arranged stylized elements by decorating with sticker in unitary style on each level of the building. At the same time, the concept of decoration is closely related to the concept of visual identity and as harmoniously as possible framed in the architectural elements of the school that we of course took into account.

We made sure that the chosen color palette was in line with the field of activity, namely education – and to express the feeling we seek to convey.

Thus we integrated in the color palette used indoor and outdoor:

Yellow – which denotes optimism, warmth and creativity – characteristics that we consider necessary to capitalize on and inspire generations of students.
Blue – denotes security when choosing the institution compared to other existing offers.
Green – relaxation, health, having the effect of reducing stress and anxiety.
I studied the target group to which the Dumitru Tautan school addresses and I identified the symbolic values ​​of the new school: how it aims to identify with the community, through emotion, empathy, how it will compress the complexity of the notion of education into a symbol that will communicate with students and their families.

The school unit, in addition to the exceptional technical and educational facilities (spacious classrooms, interactive whiteboards, laboratory logistics, psychological and medical offices, dining room, festivities room, sports fields) has now received new clothes. Depending on the level of the classes (preparatory, primary, gymnasium) the walls are decorated with motivational messages / quotes, fantastic characters, cartoon stories. The approach is based on psycho-pedagogical studies, well-known specialists in the field being consulted in this regard.

The visual identity, branding and decoration of the school is the result of the involvement and work of the team formed by Evosign, the school management and the representatives of Floresti City Hall. It is completely dedicated to future generations who will learn here, a branding and decoration project for “a school like outside”, an example to follow for the other schools from Romania.
